In a nutshell
The Yamaha Rio3224-D2 is a stagebox/remote control unit including 32 mic/line inputs with Phantom 48V and 16 line level outputs at +4 dBu plus 4 AES/EBU outputs.
Compatible with Yamaha CL and QL series mixers, the Yamaha Rio3224-D2 can be controlled directly via a DANTE controller (Dante Controler from Audinate), or remotly on the CL or QL mixer, or locally on its integrated LCD display thanks to one rotary encoder and two push-buttons.
It is therefore possible to configure a redundant network, via its DANTE primary and secondary ports, by chaining the Rio3224-D2 to any other Dante compatible device such as a Yamaha QL1 console or a Sound Device 970 multitrack digital recorder, or even to another Yamaha Rio3224-D2, a Rio1608-D or Rio1608-D2 stagebox.
An internal memory can be used to store and recall the last configuration before powering off the device.
Our recommendations
While the D series needed a remote DANTE device for configuration, the new D2 series of Yamaha digital stageboxes now benefit of an integrated LCD display for a local setup.
