In a nutshell

The Lebel Audio PWL III is a compact, standalone Phantom 48V Universal Power Module which is powered by a single AA battery.

Unlike VdB L-48 compatible only with RF Audio Ltd transmitters, or the Wisycom PHA-48, which is powered via the microphone socket of the transmitter through the appropriate CAL-48 cable, Lebel PWL III, thanks to its integrated power supply, makes it possible to connect a static microphone to any microphone input of any transmitter, whether it is Audio Ltd in Lemo 6, Sennheiser, Wisycom or Lectrosonics in Lemo 3 or Sennheiser in mini jack (series 100 to 500).

But it can also be used to connect a static microphone to the microphone input of a DSLR camera such as the Canon 5D Mark III or to the mini jack input of a compact recorder such as the Sony PCM-D50.

With a standard alkaline battery, the maximum current is 5 mA, just sufficient for Schoeps CMC 6 and CMIT, but with a lithium battery it can be up to 10 mA enough to power any energy consuming static microphone like DPA 4017 .

It is not much larger than a square-shaped, non-cylindrical lipstick tube and has a tight, screw-on battery trap for the alkaline cell or battery, and a female XLR3 socket on the other side for connection to the microphone and, on one of its sides, a male TA3 socket for locking the audio signal to the transmitter or recorder (specific cable depending on use).
