In a nutshell

Audio Ltd DX2020 radio set provided with the new miniT0 transmitter. Introduced about fifteen years ago, Audio Ltd wireless systems have largely contributed to the wide development of radio mike use. Transmitter TX2020, powerful and very autonomous, offers a choice of 32 frequencies ([F1, F2]x16); it accepts line or microphone input, and its LF circuit is remarkable with low-cut filter and discrete compression/expansion system. DX2020 is a miniature multifrequency receiver (32), providing "true diversity" reliability, a subcarrier-controlled squelch and a LED indicator for transmitter battery level. Audio Ltd. systems have several other advantages: transmitter and receiver easy switching on and off, sturdy connectors easy to wire, a range of clever accessories developed by VDB - such as L48 or Spider Box. So it's easy to understand why these systems have replaced their competitors on production shoots, documentaries or ENG.

TX2020/DX2020 are multichannel and miniature. Transmitter accepts any type of lavalier, as well as condenser microphones using VDB L-48 accessory, or dynamic microphones with VDB L-dyn adapter. Thanks to its small size, receiver DX2020 is ideal for video camera connection; it is then camera powered via VDB OL-HRSA cable.

The Mini TX40 with the slender size of a credit card, 3.27" out of 1.92" for 0.63" thick, and with the voluptuous shape of a cake of soap, without any angle, all in roundness, is undoubtedly a beautiful success, a small jewel of esthetism and refinement.
There is any on/off switch replaced here by a small infra-red remote control, some already old technics which requires a very short distance to work, not really practical. Nevertheless, its miniature LCD display allows seting up all usual functionnalities available on Audio Ltd transmitters.
The power supply of this transmitter is provided by 2 LR03 batteries which are head-digs housed on both sides of the case. That two batteries ensure an autonomy of approximately 4 hours.
For compatibility reasons, DC Audiovisuel provides the Mini TX40 with a 3 pins Lemo like its competitor the Sennheiser SK 5212. Unfortunatly this 3 pins connector doesn't allow anymore to switch on/off the transmitter when the microphone is plugged.

The Mini TX40 has a more linear frequency response diagram than that of the TX2020, with a light increase in the high frequencies, which confers to it some sort of lack of warmess, however less than on the Sennheiser SK 5212.
The range of the Mini is amazing for a transmitter of only 25 mW RF power, really as far as for the TX2020 during our tests in urban environment.

Our recommendations

If the infra-red remote SwitchIR allows to power on the radio mike, the only solution to power off is to take off one battery!

As this radio set is provided with two transmitters on the same frequency, don't forget to switch off the first one when using the second one.
