In a nutshell

Schoeps KC Active cable makes it possible to off-set CMC x preamp and MK capsule (5 meters); field-effect transistors (FET), carrying out impedance adaptation between two parts and ensuring relative noise immunity, are incorporated in the special concentric connectors. Nevertheless one must avoid powerful electromagnetic fields nearby (telephones, walky-talkies), and leaving cable wound during use.
