Until now, the majority of microphone shock mounts used a rubber material as vibration isolator. Cinela innovates with a reversed cradle supported by two special stainless steel crossed spring rings. This cradle, made of very light fiberglass reinforced polyamide, integrates a very short metallic female XLR plug with a right angle exit. A simple elastic collar retains the microphone at the other end of the cradle. The 3/8" pitch (Congress pitch) swivel and the plate supporting the male XLR plug are molded in a single polycarbonate piece. The cable, thin and flexible, forming a large coil (possibly reduced for convenience) is capable to avoid any cable noise transmission.
The use of these two crossed rings, whose aeronautic stainless steel underwent a particular treatment, makes it possible to offer an optimal compromise between isolation and firmness of the microphone mounting on its 6 degrees of freedom. It considerably reduces all the resonance frequencies of the shock mount/microphone system with a 40 dB at 100 Hz transmissibility reduction. Used jointly with a low cut filter with steep slope at 50-70 Hz (e.g. Schoeps LC 60 -18 dB/oct at 60 Hz), this shock mount makes it possible to significantly soften shocks on the boom and all handling noises.
Because of a very precise study about the correlation between the microphone length and weight and the isolating system, the Osix shock mounts are firstly declined in four different sized models: Osix 1 for Neumann KM 100 series, Osix 2 for Schoeps CMC series, Osix 3 for Sennheiser MKH 20 to 50 series and Osix 3-60 specifically for MKH 60.
Of very simple handling, very light, this shock mount could nevertheless possibly look fragile, it should not be used on difficult situations like war news.
