Scanzone principle is simple: according to a zip code, a city name or GPS coordinates, a complex algorithm, developed by Philippe Chenevez, takes into account all high frequency radiation from all surrounding transmitters, to determine their rate of disturbance on the 470-862 MHz frequency band.

Scanzone results are displayed as an interactive graph showing, for each transmitter, according to its distance, power and directivity, the level of disturbance on a four degree scale, from low to critical, with indication of name, location, channel, TV channel name and transmission type, analog or digital.

Scanzone also allows you to keep in memory the frequencies of your own transmitters, after free registration of your contact details (if registration procedure, with email confirmation, fails, write to the site webmaster). That way, you can very quickly and simply determine the degree of disruption for a given location, for each of your transmitters.

Of course, once you’re on the set, Scanzone theoretical results will have to be confirmed or invalidated with actual measurements made with A.I.R, our portable radio interference analyzer, the only autonomous and compact measuring device allowing to determine precisely and in situ the frequencies that could affect the quality of a radio signal in the 470-870 MHz band.

For now, Scanzone is not compatible with Apple mobile products because results are displayed as a Flash interactive graph.

The funding by two companies, Tapages, project manager, and DC Audiovisuel, has made possible a long study to make scanzone.fr site as intuitive as possible, with a very clear help page. Of course, the validity of the results greatly depends on transmitter base updating, and probably a bit on the length of a piece of string...
