You surely have noticed that we completely redesigned our website which no longer managed the new computing devices, especially smartphones and tablets. This is due to the collaboration of our renowned graphic designer Martin Blum with our developer who carried out a painstaking task.

Mentor, our new power supply unit for sound cart, has proved its worth on several movie sets and has been very well received by sound engineers.

The collaboration between a very optimistic engineer from Sonelec-Musique and our thinking head at DCA, a research engineer with atrabilar reputation, was not obvious, and yet this marriage lasts for two years, they have given birth to a superb product, worthy of its predecessors PMI and SMO. Why such a long development? If the theory and the practice are theoretically exactly the same thing, this is in practice not true.

Great success for the Cantar X3 now adopted by all sound engineers after some doubts at the beginning of the year. As a matter of fact, we have purchased up to 32 Cantar X3 at end of December since its outcome.

Thanks to the professionalism of the Aaton Digital developers, always listening to users, the inevitable bugs sometimes encountered were quickly solved by the disposal of new software versions. So hats off to Jean-Pierre Beauviala, first Cantar's genitor, who gave birth to this line of revolutionary recorders.

Remember what wrote Schopenhauer: A scholar is someone who has learned a lot; A genius is someone from whom mankind has something to learn, something it did not know before.

Mobile telephony constantly gains market share at all levels, meshing France with antennas over a wider and wider frequency range. After the old Edge, we switched to 3G then the 4G ... tomorrow the 5G. Up to nibble the 700 MHz band in detriment of digital terrestrial television.

In this unrestrained conquest of territories, now flooded with radio waves, users of RF microphones are a tiny minority. A small community facing economic giants that has no voice at meetings with the National Frequency Agency (ANFR). We have to be worried for years to come!

Lovers of cinema, do not miss the exhibition From Mélies to 3D: the cinema machine which invites us to discover the old cameras and other dinosaurs until the end of January at the Cinémathèque française. More than one hundred and twenty years of cinema history are laid there, from the Thomas Edison's Kinetoscope around 1889 until the last digital finds of the years 2010, all thanks to the perspicacity of Henri Langlois, creator of the French Cinémathèque in 1936, which had the will of a real conservatory of cinema apparatuses, a collection on which was founded the Conservatory of cinematographic techniques in 2008.

There are screened, with the sound of the time, scenes of Alan Crosland's Jazz Singer (1927), one of the first talking films. A Cinemeccanica projector shows in loop some excerpts of Contempt (Le Mépris) (1963) by Jean-Luc Godard. Let us have a thought for its cinematographer Raoul Coutard who just passed.

Finally, We’re nothing now but an old lamppost with memories on a street where hardly anyone passes anymore.

DC Audiovisuel wishes you a new year full of happiness, good surprises and prosperity. Let all these wishes become realities.

Happy New Year 2017
