In a few words

The SHARP MD-MT190 MiniDisc is a small walkman-sized 24-bit ATRAC3 recorder, providing good audio quality. It is rather ergonomic and user-friendly. Compared to competition, its main advantage lies in the possibility to adjust input level, which is indispensable when connected to a mixer output. It is now supplanted by mini-recorders such as M-Audio MicroTrack or Sony PCM-D50.

Depending on availability, this product can be replaced by the newer Sharp IM-DR420H MiniDisc recorder.

Our recommendations:

Although linear, MiniDisc is still the best playback device for its ease of indexing (except for a virtual editing software on a computer). However, Sony MZ-R700, which is perfect for this task, could be preferred.
