In a nutshell

Telemak is a 2-channel preamp that allows to connect any kind of analog audio source to a DSLR camera like Canon EOS 5D Mark II or EOS 7D, often used as movie camera for cinema or tv features as for documentaries. Furthermore, Telemak allows any kind of analog audio source to be amplified for beeing recorded on any consumer audio device provided with microphone input (Zoom H2, M-Audio Microtrack, Sony PCM-D50, etc.)

Telemak comes with:
- Two balanced inputs microphone preamps with 48 V Phanto, a low frequency cut filter (-3 dB@100 Hz, -12dB/oct.) and a +10 dB booster. The two output signals can be summed on both output.
- An analog stereo microphone level output on a single mini jack.
- A headphone amplifier with its own routing, which can be used as a low level line output (-12 dBu).
- A dedicated circuitry that recognizes a TC (TTL level only) plugged in the proper connector (Lemo), and switches it to the right output while bypassing the audio signal.
- An optional rig for fitting Telemak between the camera and its stand.

Telemak can run on one or two 9 V batteries or an external 9 V - 18 V DC power supply. When no Phantom power is needed and no headphones plugged, battery life extends to several days. With two Schoeps CMC 6 and a HD 25 headphones connected, Telemak can run for over four hours on only one 9 V battery.

Aside its audio quality and small size, one of Telemak major features is its very low power need thanks to its power saving mode:
- With no Phantom power invoked, the 48 V DC/DC converter goes into sleep.
- When no jack is plugged to the Monitor output, the headphone amplifier goes into standby mode.
- When running on internal battery, the Power On led flashes while keeps lit when running on external power.

The second version of Telemak 2 offers the following enhancements:
- A -10 dB input attenuator as third position on the input sensitivity selector (-10 dB, 0 dB, +10 dB). This is quite relevant for recording high sound pressure levels (gigs, meetings) or recording with high output level sources (Audio Ltd receivers, Sennheiser MKH series).
- Support for any kind of Timecode signal, regardless of its polarity (Aaton GMT-S) or amplitude (Denecke, Ambient). Reshaping of the TC signal and routing to the Right output is now fully automatic. The user just sets the output level. Level is set once for all, whatever the TC generator plugged in. Right audio input is still available for mixing with Left input on Left output.

Telemak enclosure is made out of anodized aluminum, and its dimensions are 93 x 90 x 42 mm. Telemak weighs 250 g with one battery and no rig mounted and is below 420 g with the rig and two alkaline batteries.
