Sennheiser MKH 816T was one of the first shotgun mikes introduced on the market, and it remains a reference, just like Neumann KMR 82i. Its good medium transient response and its high-frequency side rejection have made it popular for voice recording on very large shots, as long as there are no noise sources lined up. MKH 816T has neither attenuator, nor low-cut filter and, like all pressure gradient mikes, requires a foam windscreen when it is boom mounted and a Rycote type windscreen outdoors. Its big length and weight have made it fall in disuse and the new range of MKH 70 type shotgun mikes is nowadays much more popular.
