Indeed, after extensive studies on plastics performance, first by vibration simulation, then by applied mechanical testing, the metal wire insulators of the first OSIX models are now replaced by moulded plastic rings. They have several advantages:
- They are unbreakable, and suspensions OSIX can be mishandled.
- There is no more adhesive bonding, and so no more noises due to the defects of this technique.
- They allow implementation simplification: each ring is held by three screws and is extremely easy to change, even on the set.
- They are 100% compatible with all OSIX models (except for CCM).
- They have the same efficiency as metal rings.
According to mic and sought flexibility, stiffness of the front and rear rings can be changed, to adapt the shock mount to suit each way of handling the boom.
Upon request, the former OSIX models can easily be transformed in new model, with the same cradle and swivel.
