It is not uncommon, for reality TV or ENG shoots, to carry in one bag: a SD 788T recorder with a CL-8 remote control, 6 to 8 radio receivers, a monitoring system, not to mention powering and cabling. Back strain, backache, lumbago, sciatica are the daily lot of sound engineers.
Thanks to tunable filter technology the receiver operates on a frequency band up to 232 MHz. The MCR42H offered by DC Audiovisuel receives from 590 MHz to 822 MHz. The MCR42 version goes from 470 to 628 MHz.
After the four-receiver level of the MCR42, signal processing is fully digital with a latency of less than 1.5 ms on the digital audio output. On the DSP card output, two pairs of signals are available, an analog line level pair, -20 to +6 dBu, and a digital pair, AES3 48 kHz 24 bits.
The configurable digital multicompander allows full compatibility with Audio Limited TX2020/2040 and Sennheiser SK 5212 transmitters.
The MCR42 is easy to use thanks to OLED display with intuitive menu navigation, and automatic configuration functions, such as frequencies, squelch, scan, and infrared configuration utilities. A SCAN function allows a ranking of the best available frequencies, that can be easily checked with Scanzone.
Its many accessories make it possible to use it either as standalone or integrated in a camera slot.
Its performance and its universality yet lead to a high consumption, up to 1.5 W (for a voltage between 4 and 18 V DC), against 0.36 W for a single Sennheiser EK 3241 receiver, but almost equivalent to Lectrosonics SRa/E01 Digital Hybrid double-receiver.
