After their excellent series of mixers, Sound Devices tackles the market of small HDD recorders, in direct competition with Nagra Ares-BB. The Sound Devices 744T features 4 tracks to internal 40 Go HDD or Compact Flash card, two 48V balanced mike inputs, 2 balanced line-level outputs and inputs; it writes and reads at 16 or 24 bits with sample rates between 32 kHz and 192 kHz and also supports mp3 recording. Small size, removable media, excellent preamps and TC management mark it out specially for simple professional field recording. Thus, since December, the first 744T recorder rented by DCA, combined with a Schoeps stereo MS pair and its rain-proof "Hurricane" windscreen, is on a long term documentary on the mysterious Clipperton Island in the heart of East Pacific, with Doctor Jean-Louis Etienne.
Rental daily rate for the 744T is 85 euro excluding VAT. |
